Divine Direction Sermon Series

The decisions we make determine to a large extent the trajectory of our lives. Whether we would live a fulfilling life is a sum total of the decisions that we make, both big and seemingly small decisions. But here’s the important thing to note, that God our heavenly Father is willing to guide us in all our important life decisions. The Bible tells us as much in many places. For instance in Proverbs 3:5-6 we read:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

And we are advised in James 1:5:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him”.

It is impossible to describe every decision we will ever make, but it is safe to say that God guides us in making the following decisions; The decision to:

A business, a career change, a new lifestyle?

A habit, an attitude, a relationship?

In a place, in a situation?

On mission, in a different direction?

God in a situation?

For instance – and this is a difficult one – the decision to stay or go if you’re in an abusive relationship, or the decision to TRUST God in a particular circumstance. Of course in life there are no easy answers, but God promises his guidance as we navigate the rough edges of life so that the decisions we make are life giving, God honouring ones.

There’s much more to say and I look forward to seeing you in church or online as we seek God’s wisdom in the important decisions we are faced with in life.
