Pentecost Sunday (June 9th at 11 am) is a day in the Christian calendar when we celebrate the giving of the Holy Spirit to the church. The events of Pentecost started the church as God meant it to be – a church of all peoples, all nations, all languages coming together to praise God. It also shows that Christ was true to his word when he ascended to heaven. He poured out the Holy Spirit so that the church might share the good news of Jesus Christ not just with words but with power too – to heal the sick, to cast out demons, to prophesy, to speak with boldness and much more.
