Over 8 million people have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away.
The syllabus for the course is contained in the book Questions of Life. The course is held in the evening and consists of a light meal followed by a talk on a subject central to the Christian faith. Then participants break into pre-arranged groups of around 10-12 people to discuss the talk in an environment where each person should feel free to ask or express whatever they wish.
It is low-key, friendly and fun – and is supported by all the main Christian denominations.
There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may be asked to make a donation towards food and the cost of the weekend away.
